I'm thinking that it's about time for a Summer Catch-Up!.....let's waste no time and get going, shall we? I know that I'll forget a million things, so I'll be back this weekend to update. If you've visited my Blog before, you know that I like to treat you the way I'd treat a guest in my home, with the exception of offering you chocolate. I'll show you things that I've been up to, things that I love and that have stolen my attention, then it's YOUR turn. Feel free to leave YOUR passions in the comments below. Click that little "Comment" button and let 'er rip.
First?......here's the music that I have in constant rotation. It's in my car, studio, you name it. The first song's a little "club music-y" but go on past. The lyrics are beautiful, some are fun and you'll be amazed at Sams vocal range. Go get it.
okay, good. Now how about books? yeah, we LOVE books. Here are a few that anyone visual might appreciate:
Heads up sketchers......MEANWHILE IN SAN FRANCISCO is serious fun and inspiring, as is.....
The last one's a big fat book chock-full of visual joy. It's kind of journal style and you get to meet a new cast of stunningly creative characters from ALL OVER THE PLACE. We love new friends.
Okay, now here's a real NERD ALERT. The next book popped directly from a fanTAStic documentary -you KNOW how I love the docs. The book was written for sign painters and it's all technical, NO PRETTY PICTURES, so it's for our left brainers who LOVE a good, informational, droning read. It's considered the Bible of sign painters so those of you working in your skectbooks and visual journals who give a darn about the rules of layout...this one's for YOU. I love it when I can stay awake long enough to read a few pages....zzzzzzz
Now here's the awesome movie. Rent it. Just DO IT. Oh, and there's a teensy bit of profanity in the trailer (you know how we artists GET) so know that in advance....but watch it anyway.
here's the link if you need MORE info, cause I know you're the Curious Type......
okay, now here's the trailer:
Cool. Now guess what ELSE I've been doing? two amazing online classes. Go here to check out my friend Mary Ann Moss and her latest class SKETCHBOOKERY which is life changing. Good. Now go here to visit Danny Gregory and his merry band of international teachers at SketchBook Skool. I cannot recommend these classes highy enough. I'd be happy to give you a more personal recommendation if you need one. By the way, online classes are the best gifts EVER for anyone wishing to make the creative in their life fall to their kness with gratitude. I'll post trailers for THOSE classes and tell you class tales later. I don't want to OVERWHELM you now.
Here's evidence on my studio table. MOST people clean up before a photoshoot. Me?.....I just grab my camera and SHOOT! As you can see, I have a very good quality watercolor set and a couple that you bought your 5 year old the other day.
Welcome (Newbies) amd Welcome BACK to my Regulars. It's been WAAAY too long.
Great recommendations, as always. And feel free to send the chocolate, LOL! Great to see you back.

Is Andrea Joseph one of the Sketchbook Skool teachers? Kathy Lewis who taught at Stampa Barbara for years showed the wrapping in which her copy of Andrea's Book arrived and I eventually was able to order one which came yesterday. If she's isn't one of the teachers, well, it was information you didn't need. Glad you've brought us sort-of up-to-date, you with the Edward Gorey printing, yes, you. I have inflamed lust for your English pan watercolors. They are English, no? or are they German? Lust is lust. xo

Ha ha, I am taking both classes too. Have taken all MAM classes, just adore her. Skool is really fun too although I haven't tried the color pencil homework yet. Just don't like regular color pencils, I just have the watercolor ones. I have been checking on your blog and great to see you back. Love your work:)
